Greasy Roots the Day After You Wash?

Washed it yesterday and your roots already feel heavy? You’re not doing anything wrong. Here’s what’s often behind it, and what helps.

Fingers running through damp, dark hair

It isn’t always fresh oil. Roots that go flat hours after you wash can be carrying build-up, and build-up can make clean hair feel dirty.

Hard water may add to it. Its minerals can leave a film behind.

First, a Few Tips

  1. Conditioner from the ears down, never at the roots.
  2. Clean your hairbrush this week. It’s holding on to more than you’d think.
  3. Shampoo twice at the scalp, and rinse longer than feels necessary.

Your Routine, Step by Step

  • Wash: a shampoo that cleans well, at the scalp, as often as your roots need.
  • Condition: lightweight, from the ears down only.
  • Between washes: a little dry shampoo at the roots, then brush it through. It soaks up oil. It doesn’t clean.

You don’t have to wash every day to feel clean. Let’s find the routine that fits your week.
