Straight Hair: How Often Should You Wash It?
Wondering if you’re washing too often? Let’s clear that up.

As often as your roots need. Straight hair with an oily scalp may need washing every day, and that’s fine.
First, a Few Tips
- Washing every day is fine if your roots need it.
- Shampoo goes on your scalp. Conditioner from the ears down.
- Clean your brush often. It’s holding on to more than you’d think.
Your Routine, Step by Step
- Wash: gentle enough for frequent washing.
- Condition: light, from the ears down.
- Leave in: light, from the ears down. Using heat? Protect first. Using a flat or curling iron? Make sure your hair is fully dry first.
- Oil: last. Two drops, ears down, on dry ends.
Straight hair shows everything. Let’s find a routine that shows it off.
